Discover the Allure of Buzios
Armação de Búzios, once a fishing village until French starlet Brigitte Bardot got there in 1964, is now one of Brazil’s top beach destinations. Many beaches line the peninsula that just out into the clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The town is a wonderful playground for tourists and especially beach lovers.
Now, while there are over twenty-two beaches that you can relax at during your stay, don’t forget that the town also has a great nightlife. Tons of bars, restaurants, and clubs stay open until the morning and are a natural attraction for tourists.

Anytime is the Right Time
If you plan to visit Rio and its busy life, Búzios ought to be your next stop to unwind for a couple of days. You don’t need to worry about the best time to get to Búzios, as an average temperature of 79°F makes it an ideal destination year-round.
For a more relaxed holiday minus the partying, consider visiting from March to June and September to November, when rates are lower and the beaches are less crowded.
Beaches – Buzios’ Hidden Gems
The bronze statue of Brigitte Bardot is a testament to Búzios having some of the most beautiful beaches on the continent. Some beaches are seldom visited while others are filled with sunbathers year-round. Certain beaches are ideal for surfing as well. What’s unique about these beaches is their distinct and stunning characteristics. Ferradura, Azeda, and Azedinha are quieter beaches ideal for snorkeling.
João Fernandes and João Fernandinho are popular spots with several beachside cafes. Geribá is the longest stretch of sandy beach and one of the best spots for surfing.
Getting Around Town
There’s plenty of transport options: water taxis, beach buggies, and car rentals are available. You can also rent bikes to explore on your own. Most of the city streets are one-way, requiring some patience as you move from point to point, but that's all part of the vacation charm.
Consider taking a Schooner tour to enjoy the best views of the peninsula from the water and make stops at the best spots for diving and snorkeling.
Living It Up
Embracing Brazilian hospitality, Búzios offers a variety of inns and hotels along the 5-mile long peninsula known for their charm, good taste, and personalized service. The best places to stay are the Pousadas, a type of bed-and-breakfast inn. Choose a Pousada located along the shore to stay close to the bay, or near the town center, close to the shopping district on Rua das Pedras.
